Three EKU students received awards
in a recent Kentucky Academy of Science undergraduate research competition.
Angela McMullin, a sophomore pre-pharmacy major from Richmond, took
first place in the Talk category in Chemistry with "Structure of Chlorotetrakis
(Imidazole) Copper (II) Chloride and Its Synthesis by Chloride Atom
Abstraction from Carbon Tetrachloride. Her faculty adviser was Dr. Tom
Otieno.
Michelle Carter, a junior forensic science major from Gloucester, Va.,
took first in the Poster category in Physical Sciences for "Imine Cycloaddition
Reaction, Computational and Synthetic Studies." Her adviser was Dr.
Rodney Eisenberg.
Also, Patricia Orr, a senior forensic science major from Truman, Minn.,
placed third in the Poster category in Physical Sciences for "Characterization
of Super-Saturated Protein Solutions." Her adviser was Dr. Lori Wilson.
